Day 1 with edloomio

Welcome to edloomio. 😍  We can officially confirm you are awesome! Now let's get started. We put together this quick guide to help you get started with configuring your academy on day 1.


Step 1: Your profile

After registration, we have send you login details of your academy. First thing you can do is to complete your profile. This way, other users will recognize you.


  1. Once logged in, you'll see an avatar picture in the top right corner. Click on this to open the "User Menu".
  2. You will see your name and also other user menu items. Click on the first menu item "Profile".
  3. Now you can see your profile screen. The profile screen is divided with different tabs. They will be empty for now, but soon you will find all your course completions, certificates, goals, evaluations and more.
  4. Let's continue to edit your profile. Click on the pencil icon next to your name.
  5. In the edit profile screen, you can change your details. Also you can add a profile image (don't forget to smile 😁 ) by simply drag and drop an image from your desktop.
  6. Once completed, hit the Update profile button.

Great, you have completed your profile. Let's go to step two.


Step 2: Branding

It's your academy so let's add your company logo and colors. 


  • Click on the cog icon on the left of your profile picture.
  • This opens the admin menu. (The admin menu is only visible to administrators and managers.)
  • In the admin menu, click on the menu item "Settings".
  • This unfolds new menu items. Click on the menu item "Theme settings"

The Theme settings page has 3 sections: 

  • Branding: Upload your logo and set the colors.
  • Login page: Upload image and add recaptcha for extra protection.
  • Frontpage: Enable or disable the frontpage to display some courses.

Once the branding is completed, hit the "Save changes" button. The page will refresh and your logo and colors appear. Looks great! 😀

 

Step 3: Activate Features

Edloomio has different features to achieve different learning goals. To activate (or deactivate) a feature follow these step:


  1. Open the admin menu and click on the menu item "Features".
  2. Here you see a list of available features. 
  3. On the right of each feature, you can enable or disable by selecting yes or no.

If you disable a feature, rest assured. All data will be saved. Once you reactivate a feature, all data will be back again.


Step 4: Create Courses

People will not visit your academy because you have the coolest, modern and best learning platform in the world. 😉  They will visit your academy to learn. Therefore you need great courses. There are 4 options to create courses:


  • Start with a blank course: Start with an empty course and add activities and configure the settings as you like.
  • Start with a course template: These templates already have activities and are preconfigured. You can quickly edit the activities.
  • Import a ready made course: Our content library has dozens of ready made courses that you can use in your academy.
  • Outsource course creation: Hire us based on an hourly rate and we will create the course for you.

To create a course:


  1. Click on the cog icon on the left of your profile picture.
  2. This opens the admin menu. (The admin menu is only visible to administrators and managers.)
  3. In the admin menu, click on the menu item "Create". This opens up new menu items.
  4. Now click on "Course"
  5. In the next screen, choose an option to create a course.

Creating a course is fairly easy. We have made separate tutorials about course creation so please check them out.


Step 5: Welcome messages

Before you start inviting people to your platform, you'll want to setup welcome messages. Edloomio has two types of welcome messages:


  • User welcome message: when you create a new user account, this message is sent to the user email address.
    • Open the admin menu (cog icon)
    • Click on "Users"
    • Click on "User welcome message"
    • Now you can setup the welcome message. You can use placeholders, like [[fullname]] to include user details.
  • Course Welcome message: when you enrol the user into the course, this message is sent to the user email address.
    • Open the admin menu (cog icon)
    • Click on "Courses"
    • Click on "Course welcome message"
    • Click on the cog icon next to the course to setup a custom welcome message. You can create a custom welcome message for each course. If disabled, a simple generic enrolment message is send to the user. To customize this generic enrolment message, please contact support.

In order to send these welcome messages, you will need to enter SMTP details for you academy. This will enable to send the message from your academy via your own email address.


To set your SMPT settings:

  • Open the admin menu
  • Click on Settings, select SMTP settings.
  • Fill in the required fields. We have made a separate manual about this. Please check it out.

Step 6: Create user accounts

There are multiple ways to create user accounts:


  • Create manually: Create a single user account by filling in a form.
  • Import users: Upload an Excel cheet and create multiple accounts.
  • Create automatically: By connecting your academy with a different platform.

Step 7: Time to rock & roll

It is time to invite people to start learning on your awesome academy. There are multiple ways to enrol user into courses:


  • Individually
    • Go to the user list. (Admin menu > Users > Manage users.).
    • To right of the user, click on the action "Enrollments".
    • Now you can add courses to enrol the user. You can choose to send the course welcome message.
  • From your course:
    • Go to the course. (Admin menu > Courses > Manage courses.).
    • In the course, click on "Course Participants" in the manage section.
    • Click on "+Enroll Users"
    • In the popup, search for the user. Click on enrol. You can choose to send the course welcome message.
  • By upload: Upload a csv containing the user and course data. We have made a separate tutorial about this. Please check it out.


End of day 1

Wow, you just earned yourself a drink. Within a day, you have launched your academy and people are actually learning in your academy. We are proud of you. 😊
