External Tool (LTI) Activity

LTI offers a way to link to courses on external platforms from within your own course and where available to have grades sent back into edloomio. Users only need to log in to edloomio, they do not have to log in a second time to the connecting site.

Usage Example

The user opens the external tool activity. He clicks on a link redirecting him to the external platform into the course. No need to login. He completes the course and it automatically redirected back to your course.

How to add and setup 

  1. Go to your course.
  2. Click on "Edit Content" and click on the plus icon in the section where you want to add the activity.
  3. Search for the External tool activity and click on it.
  4. Fill in the required fields:
    • Activity Name: The title of the external course. This will be displayed above the link.
    • Add the tool URL, either one configured by our support team or create your own by clicking on the + icon, for which you need the Consumer key and Shared secret, both provided by the external tool provider.
    • Specify the Launch container (how the external tool will display)
    • Select the services you want
    • Specify the privacy settings
  5. Set the additional settings as desired.
  6. Set the completion criteria.

Additional Settings

  • Description: Add a description to display above the SCORM course and optional on the course screen.
  • Privacy: Check your privacy policy and set these settings accordingly.
  • Grade: Set the grading accordingly. Click on the help icons for extra information and ask the vendor for more information.
  • Restrict Access: You can add a restriction to this activity. For example a date or the completion of a different activity first.

Once you are ready, click on "Save and display" to view the result.
