Certificate Activity

The certificate activity generates a PDF when a user completes other activities in your course, based on the activities completion criteria. The certificate can be issued automatically or manually by the user.

Usage example

  1. A user views completes the page activity by viewing a video and answering a question.
  2. The user continues to a quiz and achieves the passing grade.
  3. A popup appears and the certificate is automatically issued to this user.
  4. The course marks as completed for this user.

How to add and setup 

  1. Go to your course.
  2. Click on "Edit Content" and click on the plus icon in the section where you want to add the activity.
  3. Search for the certificate activity and click on it.
  4. Fill in the required fields:
    1. Certificate Name: The title of the certificate. This will be displayed on the certificate.
  5. Set the additional settings as desired.
  6. Set the completion criteria.

Once you are ready, click on "Save and display" to view the result.

Additional Settings

  • Description: Add a description to display on the screen where the user can manually download the certificate.
  • Issue options: Setup how the certificate is issued. Click on the help icons for extra information.
  • Design options: Choose the elements you want to display on your certificate. Also choose a layout, orientation and a background. Click on the help icons for extra information.
  • Restrict Access: You can add a restriction to this activity. For example a date or the completion of a different activity first.

Custom background image

This how you can add new background images for your certificates:

  • Open the admin menu
  • Click on settings, next click on Activities Settings
  • Search for the certificate and click on settings in the right column.
  • Now you can upload JPEG images. Use border for background images.
